I had to make a workbook!

After finishing Churn by Claude Steele, I became its unoffical PR voice. I couldn't stop talking about it. It's become my go-to present for friends' birthdays, "thank you for inviting us to dinner" gifts, and recommendation for anyone asking, "What should my book club read next?"
Within weeks I developed a workshop that leveraged it. As always, my work continued to focus on team learning and development and for organizations invested in co-creating trusting, collaborative environments, but now I had this additional fantastic resource. So, I did what all excited and inspired educators do: I created a workbook to deepen personal understanding and scaffold the thinking necessary to imagine and implement institutional change.
Does your team (or do you) reach for words like productivity, efficiency, and collaboration when you're goal-setting? Ironically, when bandied about as outcome goals they usually undermine a team's capacity to actually work efficiently, productively, and even collaboratively. This is because the essential components necessary for them to exist are trust, curiosity, and humility. These are rarely intentionally fostered by systems or the leaders who navigate through them. Build trust, inspire curiosity, value humility and you're inevitably on your way towards genuine collaboration and legitimate productivity. But jump the end goals without the relational scaffolding and success will be short-lived at best.
